How To Read This Page
Monthly premium is the full price for everyone you list, added up person by person, unless you enter your yearly household income. With an income entered, the page estimates your premium tax credit and shows your price after the credit, using the income you expect for 2027. HealthCare.gov makes the official calculation when you apply.
Families. Each person’s premium depends on their age. Children under 21 are charged for at most the three oldest; younger children beyond three are covered at no extra premium. With two or more people, the page uses each plan’s family deductible and family out-of-pocket maximum. Children often qualify for Medicaid or CHIP at higher incomes than adults, so a family may end up with the children in Medicaid or CHIP and the parents in a marketplace plan; HealthCare.gov checks each person. People 65 and older usually have Medicare and are left out.
Premium tax credit. For 2027, the credit is the benchmark silver premium minus a set share of your income, from 2.15% to 10.22% depending on how your income compares with the federal poverty line ($15,960 for one person, plus $5,680 for each additional person; $33,000 for a family of four). Above 400% of the poverty line ($63,840 for one person, $132,000 for a family of four) there is no credit and you pay full price. If your income is low enough for Medicaid, you get Medicaid instead.
Extra savings on silver plans. If your income is up to 250% of the poverty line ($39,900 for one person, $82,500 for a family of four), silver plans come with a lower deductible and out-of-pocket maximum. The page shows those lower amounts when they apply.
Deductible. Most plans have one deductible for medical care and drugs together. Some have separate ones; the page then shows both, for example $0 medical, $7,500 drugs. A $0 medical deductible does not mean prescriptions are covered from the first dollar.
Maximum yearly cost is twelve months of premium plus the plan's out-of-pocket maximum: the individual maximum for one person, the family maximum for two or more. If you have a major medical event, such as a hospital stay, a cancer diagnosis or a serious accident, expect to pay the full out-of-pocket maximum in addition to your premiums. The out-of-pocket maximum covers in-network care the plan covers; care outside the network or not covered by the plan can cost more.
Benchmark silver is the second-cheapest silver plan in your county. Premium tax credits are figured from it, so when it changes, your credit changes.
